As part of efforts to strengthen community-led responses to gender-based violence, Sung Foundation organized engagement sessions with selected community members across fifteen communities in the Tolon District under the KASA! Ending Sexual Violence in Tolon District project.
From each participating community, ten individuals were selected to serve as members of Community Committees for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence. These committee members included respected community members who are well positioned to support advocacy, awareness creation, and community action to protect women and girls.

During the sessions, participants were taken through discussions and learning activities on gender-based violence, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, child protection, and the importance of promoting safe and supportive environments for women and girls. The sessions also focused on the important role these committee members can play in identifying cases of abuse, supporting survivors, and working with community leaders and relevant institutions to address harmful practices.
By equipping these community representatives with knowledge and practical guidance, the initiative aims to strengthen local structures that can help prevent gender-based violence and promote accountability at the community level.
At the end of the sessions, participants were presented with certificates of recognition in appreciation of their commitment and willingness to serve as advocates and champions for the protection of women and girls within their communities.

Through these community committees, the KASA! Ending Sexual Violence in Tolon District project seeks to ensure that efforts to prevent gender-based violence continue beyond the project period, with local actors taking active responsibility for safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of women and girls.
