Our Participation in the Ghana Civil Society Forum 2025

We were honored to participate in the 2025 Ghana Civil Society Forum held on June 25–26 at the GNAT Hall in Accra. Representing both the Northern Region and our organization were Hajia Fati Seidu Tambro, our Executive Director, and Elianor, who contributed to the forum’s critical conversations on civil society development, sustainability, and impact.

This year’s forum brought together civic actors, state officials, and development partners under the theme of sustainable development financing in a post-aid context. The event featured key addresses from the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, the Civic Society Alliance, UNESCO, and development economists including Dr. Nii Moi Thompson.

Key discussions focused on:

  1. Reimagining financing through community philanthropy, blended financing, and social enterprise models.
  2. Strengthening partnerships between CSOs, government, and private institutions.
  3. Prioritizing local resource mobilization and transparency to build public trust.
  4. Recognizing CSOs as credible civic actors capable of driving innovation, accountability, and social change.
  5. Building inclusive development models that incorporate youth, women, and traditional authorities.

The forum also explored alternatives for donor engagement, the need for digital visibility, and the role of CSOs in environmental protection, especially in curbing illegal mining.

As a network of change-makers, the call to action was clear: do things differently, deepen community ties, and redefine philanthropy on our own terms. Our team left energized, inspired, and better equipped to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.

We look forward to implementing lessons from the forum and strengthening collaborations that foster equity, impact, and sustainability.
