Sung Foundation successfully organized the SUFOD School Club Durbar, the climax of the AWDF KASA Project, on 12th February 2026 in the Tolon District, bringing together students, educators, community leaders, and key stakeholders to celebrate learning, advocacy, and community impact.

The event marked the culmination of months of engagement with school clubs across fifteen communities, where students were trained and supported to understand and address critical issues such as gender-based violence, early and forced marriage, teenage pregnancy, and child protection.

Through creative and participatory approaches including drama, poetry, debates, and quiz competitions, students showcased not only their knowledge but also their confidence and ability to communicate important messages on gender equality and the protection of children.
The durbar also featured exciting competitions among the participating school clubs, highlighting the creativity and knowledge gained throughout the project. Outstanding performances were recognized and rewarded, with prizes awarded to winning schools. Wantugu Junior High School emerged as the winner of the debate competition, demonstrating strong critical thinking and advocacy skills. Dimabi Junior High School also delivered exceptional performances, emerging as winners in the other competitive activities, including drama, poetry, and quizzes.

In her remarks, the Executive Director of Sung Foundation, Hajia Fati Seidu Tambro, emphasized the importance of empowering young people as advocates for change and highlighted the role of education and community engagement in addressing gender-based violence and harmful practices. She also called on stakeholders, including traditional leaders, parents, and institutions, to sustain the gains made through the project and continue supporting efforts to protect and empower children, particularly girls.

The durbar brought together distinguished stakeholders, including traditional authorities, representatives from the Ghana Education Service, CHRAJ, the Department of Social Welfare, and the Gender Desk Office, all of whom demonstrated strong commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of children and promoting gender justice in their communities.

Beyond the performances and competitions, the event served as a platform for reflection on the progress made under the project and the impact of empowering young people as advocates for change. It also reinforced the importance of sustained collaboration among schools, communities, and institutions in addressing harmful practices affecting women and girls.
The SUFOD School Club Durbar highlighted the transformative power of education and youth engagement in promoting social change. By equipping students with knowledge and creative platforms to express themselves, the project has contributed to building a generation that is informed, confident, and committed to creating safer and more inclusive communities.
As the KASA Project comes to a close, Sung Foundation will continue to support these efforts and work with stakeholders to protect and empower women and girls across the Tolon District.
